Appearance: Red hair, pale freckles, large green eyes in a small face. Resting judgyface. Definitely too skinny. Might be carrying a baby.

History: Kadi's family lives in the Fjords, in a settlement so small it has no name. There is a cult of the Path of Light followed there that is virtually unknown to the rest of the world, taught by the elders as the only true way. Kadi grew up learning prayers and being beaten when she did not say them properly. She was a slave to her parents, performing all household duties, for filial piety is the will of the gods. Her little brother was called sinful because after him, her parents had no more children, but Kadi protected him as much as she could. Only a few years ago, her closest friend was found guilty of heresy against the Earth and executed. Her name was Silfa.

At the age of eighteen, she was forced to marry, and she became pregnant soon after. She and her husband fell desperately ill a few months later, and he perished. Kadi's family took her back in and claimed they would ensure the baby was raised the way the gods intended children to be raised.

That night, Kadi packed a firestarter, a knife, and a small pan, and left. She hiked around and across the mountain with no destination. She made it to Northcliff Forest, where she had no choice but to remain there and give birth entirely on her own. The baby girl was born at least three weeks prior to her due date, but she thrived in the woods, where Kadi remained for a time to recover. In the forest, she felt safe, cared for, and looked after, and could always find food. When she finally moved on, she and the baby were led to, of all places, Northcliff Pass.

Personality: Poised and dignified and taking no nonsense. Perfectionist and steady, her emotional highs and lows can be extreme, but only certain people are allowed to see them. She is used to working hard for what she needs and harder for what she wants, if she ever gets either at all. Very much prone to bottling her emotions out of habit.

Kadi is by nature introverted and melancholic. She prefers a direct approach to problem-solving and is frustrated by people who do not. She is more focused on the issues at hand than how people feel about it, and is willing to hurt feelings if it will solve the problem, though she takes no enjoyment in the task. Feelings were never a consideration in her old life.

Despite being raised in a very toxic religious environment, she is deeply devout--just not the way her village wanted her to be. She is particularly pious toward the Earth, and prays in the mornings and evenings for her heart to be enlightened to the wild and thriving ways of this god. She could not believe any human-led death-dealing inquisition could be a true representation of the gods

Kadi is somewhat irritable, critical of herself and others, and certain topics will make her blow a fuse or shut down entirely. She takes a certain delight in losing her temper because her old life did not allow breaks in composure. Those closer to her will understand that she feels just as deeply the things she does not express on the surface. Kadi doesn't think of herself as delicate, but she is covertly as fragile and desiring as anyone for love, meaning, friendship, and hope.
